How old am I?!?

Someone asked me the other day how old I was & for a brief moment I was stumped. 34,35 ah no 37 is the right answer.

I'm not bothered by my age but genuinely forget. Since I turned 31 & had my second child my own age seems to evade me.  I'm quite looking forward to turning 40 but since turning 30 my age seems to be getting irrelevant.

Obviously life changes. For most of my twenties life was about living for the weekends, lie ins, hangovers, loud pubs/clubs, meeting people, cheap holidays somewhere hot & with a brilliant nightlife, sharing a flat/house with your friends, working full time, trying to find a career and having no money!!!

Things change I still have no money but now love -

Parks & playgrounds - finding a new one is brilliant
Holidays but now Haven caravan sites or all inclusive/kids club varieties
Being able to hang out the washing on a nice day
The rare amazement of a lie in
Quiet pubs with seats
Going to a friends house with a bottle of wine instead of said quiet pub
Staying in at the weekend watching BGT with the kids & a takeaway
Family BBQ's with the kids playing in the garden
Scented candles
Photo's

What's changed for you as you've got older?

Are you bothered by your age?

  1. I love this post! I'm only 22 but honestly, as I've got older and things have dramatically changed (circumstances, jobs, friends leaving, mental health issues etc) I've found that I very much appreciate the smaller things which include a lot of what you've put on that list! I've definitely grown up a lot since 17/18 but I'm definitely in the right place at the moment. It's far from perfect but it's good for me. I'm not bothered by my age at all but if I could go back to 14/15/16 and live it all over again I 100% would xo

  2. Ever since I've had my son (he's 2.5) I've forgotten my age quite a few times! :-) I'm 33 but keep thinking I'm already 34. Last year someone asked me how old I was and I had to think about it. Oh dear.

And no, I'm not bothered by my age. Partly because I can't remember it! x

  4. I'm the same. I'd love a night out with drinking and dancing but with kids? No way. Hangover and exhaustion. I prefer the countryside, a glass of wine and chats with hubby and sleep!! xx #binkylinky x

  5. Things are a little different for me. I had my children early (just shy of 23 years old). So I didn't get to enjoy my 20s like everyone else. I am now 44 and my kids are in their last year of college and I am now hanging out and having fun with others. I don't do clubs, but I'm out and about socializing as much as I can. I attend festivals and friends gatherings, wine tastings, and fashion shows. Anything to keep me busy and out there because did I mention I was single...and looking :) Found you over at #justanotherlinky ~Lowanda of Sunshine and Elephants

  6. I like to think that 37 is where it's at! ;) I'm with you. The idea of a club now fills me with dread. Where would I sit? How would we have a conversation over the music (noise)? It amazes me how much I've changed in just 5 years. I definitely think it's more to do with my wife and mother status rather than the number of candles on my cake. I don't mind getting older. More candles just means bigger cake! :0) xx

    1. I definitely think it's children rather than age that makes me feel old! 😆 I quite like it though although I'll see how I feel when I hit the big 40.

  7. I often forget how old I am too - I actually had to stop and do the maths right now to figure out that I'm 33. I'm definitely more into quiet nights in now that I'm older (not that I have much of a choice with a baby!) - the idea of going out to a nightclub or trendy bar sounds like a nightmare. #justanotherlinky

    1. Nightclubs literally fill me with horror! Last time was on a hen do & it did not fill me with pleasure.

  9. Great post! Age is a funny old thing... I think we all have an age we reach where we don't take stock of the numbers so much. Plus I think it depends on personality more than numbers... I'm just about still in my twenties and love a new playground and scented candles.lol! I'm looking forward to my 30th in July and hope that my thirties prove to be as exciting and eventful as my twenties have been. And hopefully someone will buy me a Jo Malone Candle if I play my cards right! xx

  10. At the moment I DO remember my age as I hit a big one last year ... but it's only a number isn't it and age really should not matter to anyone. #TheList
