Today my daughter is 9.
For me this feels like a milestone.
It feels grown up.
I think this is largely due to the fact in Northampton we used to have a 3 tier schooling system & at 9 you would change to middle school.
At 9 years old I travelled by bus or walked to a new school a couple of miles from home.
Would I let my 9 year old do this now. No way!!!
Society is different & we worry more about our children.
Luckily for me the schooling system changed and it's now 2 tier.
My daughter won't change schools until she's 11 and I might be ready by then :)
She is growing into a beautiful, clever and caring little lady and makes me enormously proud.
She is sometimes a little too serious but this is balanced out by the times she is painting her nails & singing to Justin Bieber.
I honestly can't believe it is 9 years since she came into the world.
Where has the time gone?
I remember coming home from hospital & shedding a tear. Wearing flips flops in winter as my feet had swollen & the next day realising I'd lost my trainers. They'd accidently left at the hospital & I never saw them again or found some I liked as much!
Her birth story was long & resulted in an emergency caesarean.
It took me a little while to get over it but I wouldn't change a thing.
Happy birthday my most wonderful gorgeous Lily-pop ( she doesn't like pants anymore!).
Love you millions & you are amazing.
